Skate spots are the social spaces for the skateboarding community. They provide a meeting place for kids to form friendships and mentor one another. Unfortunately, most kids do not have public skate spots close to their homes. We envision a city in which every citizen has an accessible place to skate regardless of where they live.
Although the greater Phoenix Metropolitan Area has several premiere skateboarding complexes, these facilities primarily serve kids who are fortunate enough to either live near one, have guardians who are able to drive them across town, or have their own vehicle. Our S.K.A.T.E. Spots plan distributes resources to low-income neighborhoods that need them the most.
