S.K.A.T.E. and Create is a four-week hybrid skate clinic and makerspace course that teaches kids skateboarding and safety fundamentals, as well as introductory-level methods to vocational skills, ending in a culminating experience celebration.
With specialized attention from skate coaches, students an hour and a half each clinic learning how to skate various obstacles at Cesar Chavez Community Center and skatepark. Students then spend the second hour and a half of each clinic learning Adobe Illustrator tools and techniques as they design their own skateboard, which goes on display the final week before they take it home!
