how we roll

programs that expand access and strengthen communities through skateboarding

Cowtown S.K.A.T.E. advances its mission through three areas of impact: Opening the Door, S.K.A.T.E. Spots, and Community Blocks. Each area is powered by initiatives that make skateboarding more accessible, more inclusive, and more connected across the Valley and beyond.

opening the door

gear access

Access starts with having the right equipment. These initiatives remove barriers by putting skateboards and gear directly into the hands of youth who need them most.

  • Skateboard Angel: Through a year-round donation drive and nationwide network of partner nonprofits, donors provide professional-quality skateboards to youth who may otherwise lack access.

  • Boards for the Barrio: Delivering skateboards and safety equipment to underserved neighborhoods throughout The Valley.

  • Rides for the Rez: Partnering with tribal communities to help equip Native youth with skateboards, ramps, and safety gear.

s.k.a.t.e. spots

public infrastructure

Not every kid lives near a skatepark. That’s why we’re working with cities, legislators, and mission-aligned partners to create small, low-cost skate amenities distributed equitably across the Phoenix Valley, that way every community has a place to roll, learn, and grow.

  • Neighborhood Parks Initiative: Building safe, small creative skate spaces where kids can skate daily, close to home.

  • Demonstration Projects: Teaming up with cities to flip empty spaces and dead zones into skate spots.

community blocks

programs and events

Community is what makes skateboarding powerful. Through partnerships with cities and local organizations, these programs bring people together to create, learn, and celebrate skateboarding.

  • Skate & Create (City of Phoenix): A 4-week program that blends skateboarding fundamentals and safety with hands-on creative skills like graphic design.

  • Free Skate Clinics: Individual instruction, safety guidance, and gear access at city events and community festivals.

Together, these initiatives turn skateboarding into a force for community, creativity, and growth.
