S.K.A.T.E. & Create returns just in time for the cooler weather at Cesar Chavez Community Center and we're ready to roll. This year, over a dozen local kids leveled up their skate skills and dove into the world of graphic design, many for the first time.
Check out the recap here!
Four Saturdays, 12 Hours, Kids Stoked.
Through one on one skateboard instruction, kids of all levels came together to learn and push themselves (literally), in the pursuit of new experiences. S.K.A.T.E. & Create is a four week long makerspace course that teaches kids the fundamentals of skateboarding, as well as the health and lifelong benefits that come with it. In addition, participants learn the basics of graphic design through Adobe Illustrator, creating their own custom skate graphic that is then gifted to them at the end of the program.
Post program, we asked participants across seven zip codes what's changed for them since S.K.A.T.E. & Create, here's what they told us:
100% said they were able to express themselves creatively better
90% said they were more comfortable skating
100% doubled their knowledge in skate and design techniques
75% made new friends through the program
100% preferred one-on-one learning methods like this to school

A huge thank you to our friends and supporters at M3F, The Mihaylo Foundation, City of Phoenix Parks & Recreation, City of Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture!
A special shout out to everyone at the Cesar Chavez Community Center for welcoming us back again this year.
Thank you to all of the instructors Miles, Brian, Paul, Reuben, Karen, Jason and Terrell, who helped our kids gain confidence and see their own potential.
Programs like this don't happen without you!
