On Sunday, February 8th, Cowtown S.K.A.T.E. was invited back for our 10th year distributing professional grade skateboards and providing skate clinics to the children of Sunshine Acres Children's Home.

Sunshine Acres provides displaced children ages 5 - 18 with a loving, safe environment for them to grow and thrive. The 125 acre property offers a variety of educational enrichment programs and activities from music lessons to transitional living for children "aging out" of the system.
With over 70 children living on campus at a time, many have an interest in skateboarding. Because of limited resources, Sunshine kids don't always have access to quality gear to keep them active and safe.
In a span of three hours, our Skateboard Angel program provided 45 children the choice of their own professional grade skateboard. Before you knew it, timid young faces among the crowd were beaming, carving up the park as if they'd been doing it all their lives; opening their minds to a world of new possibilities.
Skateboarding is no easy feat. So to make the learning process a little smoother, our crew of volunteer skate instructors worked hand in hand with children of all levels and ages
A special thank you Larry and his team at Tig3r12 Clothing for their generosity with food, water and merch during the event! A big thank you as well to the team at Sunshine Acres for hosting us again this year, and to all of the volunteers who came out supporting the kids in our community!
