One of the many great things about skateboarding is that the fulfillment it provides is not based on ability. No matter where you are on the range of ability, skateboarding meets you there to give the same feeling of excitement and accomplishment as you learn that you are able to do things you had only imagined.
That's why we were thrilled when the City of Tempe reached out regarding their Adaptive Recreation programs, which are offered to youth and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Together we were able to put together an Adaptive Skateboarding class that expands the city’s Adaptive Recreation programming and advances our nonprofit’s mission to increase access to the benefits of skateboarding. The class meets weekly, offering those enrolled the opportunity for specialized instruction, as well as a safe environment to experience the joy of skating!
